Brigadeiros Brazilian Fudge Balls

Brazilian Brigadeiro Truffles

Brigadeiros are a very popular Brazilian bite-size chocolate sweets, they are kind of bon-bons or truffles.
Traditionally they are made of three ingredients only which are condensed milk, unsweetened cocoa powder and butter. They are hand-rolled individually and then coated in chocolate sprinkles.

Brigadeiro Sweets

It was created in the 1940s and named after Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, who once ran for president of Brazil. Well, he didn’t win but his sweet became a HIT. In Brazil, they serve them at birthday parties, kids parties but can also be found at almost any type of party.

You can also consume them with a spoon or as a cake topping but I prefer to have them rolled up and served into a small paper or mini cups. I bought mine online, You can find yours at AmazonUS or AmazonUK!  XOXO 🙂

Ingredients
  1. 300 g sweet condensed milk
  2. 3 Tbsp cocoa powder, sifted
  3. 1 Tbsp butter, plus some Oil for rolling balls
  4. Chocolate sprinkles, grated coconut (or any other type of sprinkles you like)
Instructions
  1. In a medium heavy-based saucepan, heat the butter, condensed milk and the cocoa, to boiling, stirring constantly (this is important, otherwise it will burn!) with a Spatula. Reduce the heat to medium-low; cook for 10-15 mins, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick and shiny and starts to pull away from the bottom. If it takes a while for the mixture to move, then your brigadeiro is ready!
  2. Reserve, let it cool to room temperature.
  3. In a plate or bowl, spread your sprinkles.
  4. Once the brigadeiro is cooled down, grease your hands with some oil and roll the brigadeiros into little balls.
  5. Roll the brigadeiro balls into the sprinkles and place them in mini paper baking cups. ET VOILA!
